In an effort to increase new car sales amid a surge in gas prices, Ford has boosted incentives and rebates for nearly all vehicles purchased, including the Ford Mustang V6. Between June 1st and July 31st of this year eligible vehicles will recieve free gas for the rest of the year. Ford calls this the “Drive On Us” program. Buyers can take a $1,000 rebate in lieu of the gas card, and may also qualify for zero percent financing.

This new, and unique, incentive comes in the wake of high prices at the pump and a similar incentive from General Motors. Last week GM offered residents of California and Florida a guaranteed $1.99 / gallon of gasoline for the rest of the year. This offer is open for select automobiles purchased by July 5th.

Today Ford announced an official MSRP of $42,975 for the Shelby GT500. This includes charges for destination ($745) and binge drinking tariff (gas guzzler: $1,300) and comes in the wake of extremely high demand. Ford recently announced they would increase production to 9,000 units this year in hopes to reduce Dealer gouging concerns and satisfy consumers.
