Well, we didn’t actually spy it but Brenda Priddy and Company did (she’s good, pretty much the queen of car spy photos. Thanks for the pic by the way). While it’s clear this car is pretty heavily cloaked, there’s no mistaking it for a next-gen Mustang nor disputing the speculation that this is what’s coming next for Ford’s Ponycar in 2010.
When Steve Saleen retired many Mustang enthusiasts feared that we would never again see the amazing Ponies that often came out of their garage. Enthusiasts love the one-of-a-kind cars they’ve have created and are hoping that the future will produce more.
In a theater near you on December 14th, look for a Ford Shelby GT500 tearing up the streets of New York City in I Am Legend, starring Will Smith. It’s yet another notch in Ford’s belt for building it’s brand in Movies, the new “commercial” of sorts. In addition to the Mustang, Ford also landed cameo roles for the Escape Hybrid and the Expedition - though it’s the GT500 owning the roads.
Remeber the famous Giugiaro Mustang Concept from back in 2006? While it’s pretty old news at this point, it’s actually quite important as it clued the world in on Ford’s determination to bring Mustang enthusiasts something new and exciting by 2010. Whether or not the next generation ponycar has an Italian flare is still open for debate, however one thing isn’t - Fabrizio Giugiaro can’t drive.
