2009 Ford Mustang GT-R (GT500KR)

Back in 1968. Ford released the Ford Mustang GT500KR model signifying the Mustang as the “King of the Road” in this edition. The K-code Mustang is one of the most powerful models ever produced and rumo has it that Ford is bringing back the K-code in 2008 or 2009 to compete with more expensive, more powerful muscle cars.

The Ford Mustang has always been the affordable American muscle car, but since the Chevrolet Corvette, the Z06-engineered Camaro, and Dodge 6.1L Challenger will be on the market in 2009, Ford wants to compete with the big boys.

According to U.S. patent office, Ford trademarked the name “GT-R” in early 2006. With the badging in effect, what can be expected power-wise for this new Mustang?

Aside from speculation, little is known about the 2009 model Mustang. Rumor has it, that to differentiate itself from the competition, Ford is introducing a folding hardtop into the 2009 Mustang Convertible line.
