2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500Back in January, Ron Pratte won the right to purchase the first Shelby GT500 at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Arizona for $600,000. On the 27th of June, he was at Ford’s AutoAlliance International assembly plant for delivery of the most powerful production Ford Mustang in history.

“On behalf of the mangement and workers here at AutoAlliance, I’m proud to hand over the keys to this Shelby GT500,” said Gary Roe, President, AutoAlliance. “The Shelby GT500 is an instant classic and the AutoAlliance team couldn’t be happier to be a part of the Ford-Shelby history.”

Carroll Shelby was also there to personally oversee the delivery of the first Shelby GT500, a beautiful machine dressed in grabber orange paint with tungsten stripes. Mr.Shelby also personally signed the first GT500 on the passenger side glove box for Mr. Pratte. After handing the keys, Mr. Shelby spent some time shaking the hands of the folks at AutoAlliance who worked hard to bring this car to life.

The GT500 has an MSRP of around $42,000 (depends on the source), and around 9,000 units are scheduled for production. Both coupe and convertible models are available. The GT500 went on a country wide tour earlier this month.
