ford DOHC 2.3
i noticed that the 2.3 has been upgraded to dual over head cam i saw it in a newer ranger and my question is why hasnt anyone on here tried swapping the head onto there block or swapping the engine in to there mustang. from what i understand the dohc 2.3 has like 170hp so gotta question will it bolt up to our tranny?

dont know why not saw a post on another forum of a guy putting one in a 2.3T's place and it bolted to the t5 but i dont know if it actually worked i dont see why not as long as the input is the same spline count and length as our blocks.

yea but i dont want a ghetto motor lol. and the duratec is a ford motor its fords version of the mazda 2.3 and its only got 143hp but ill take it and the stock head on it flows good enough for turbo im prolly not gonna do this swap if im gonna go threw all the trouble of a swap im going for the 4.6 or a 5.0. I was just wondering why no one has used this motor.

Ghetto nothing, this engine is badass
That's a volvo head. Making it a TT DOHC 2.3.

i say ghetto because you have to weld a block of aluminum to the back end of the head and make a head gasket for it to mount on the block right it is a badass motor but i dont wanna go through all that work when i could just swap a motor thats pretty much the same in im prolly gonna keep my dual plug anyone know a good place in florida to have it tuned when i do the cam injectors fpr and various other things.

i agree its a big hassle just more unique than anything else...as far as making a ton of power...don't expect anything spectacular out of it.

Now if you are to use a DOHC on a OHC Engine, Especially since the 2.3l's head was the biggest power robbing peice o shit in that engine, Only operating at about 45% volumetric efficiency, and swapped it for a 16 valve DOHC, operating at around 90%, You would, in theory, near double your horsepower. But from what i've seen, people get around... Probably an extra 70 hp, just from opening up the head, p/p, the works. If you had a DOHC, I'm assumining you might pull 90? I need a confirmation on that. But just IMO. I'm not a engineer by any means lol
