New here. New to 2.3l's and carbs, but not foxbody's, i have a 89 convertible 5.0 with full bolton's, full exhaust, full suspension, stock heads and cam, but a 150shot of go-go juice.

Well i just picked up this 1985 2.3l (non turbo) coupe for $800



The car is going to be a daily driver for a little while, with big plan's of a 351W build up on nitrous, C4, and 9" rear end in the near future.



my problem is that the car has to pass emissions, and im very worryed that it will not, as it has a hole bottle of seafoam in the tank, and a hole can of carb cleaner has been through the carb to get it running decent.

i also had to raise the idle a little high to keep it alive, as at low RPM's it try's to die.

im new to carb's, so i have no clue what is wrong.


my question is, what else can i do to make this car run better.

If it fails emissions what else can i do to help it out? Ive looked at carburetors to replace this tired one, but cant seem to find any that match up to the little baby 2.3l.


any help or recommendations would be great

it indeed did fail emissions.

im going to rebuild the carb and try again.
