i got a 2.3L with a 5200 Motorcraft on it.. when it starts it wont idle for shit and it blows the gas back out of the carb i dont know if its a vaccum because i dont know which ones go where and the chilton or haynes did not have any diagram of the motor with the same carb..

Also when i do get it to idle i go to put it in gear and it just dies.. even when i hold it at about 2Grand it still dies.. i cant figure this thing out one bit..

sounds like it might be starving for fuel. You may want to tune your carb. I don't know much about carb engines or the 2.3L but that may be whats goin on.

i dout its starving.. i got a electric fuel pump on it.. it blows it out for some reason i dont understand.. iv had the carb apart.. it seems to work but i dont know about the second barrel but it has nothing to do with it idling.. i cut the exuast off maybe its just so loud i idle it way to low.. haha that could be it but when i put it in gear it dies even if i hold it to the floor.. its like it has no power.. its firing really good but i think it has something to do with it blowing some gas out of the carb when u give it gas and shit im getting pissed off at it its not the motor i want in it but someone offered me like 300 - 400 bucks for the motor and tranny and i want it to run im actually changing it and putthis this 351 BB in it haha depends im liking the 351W but the bigger the better is the way i see it someone help me out here and tell me what is wrong with my motor
