93 2.3 8plug turns but doesn't crank

im new to fords, im dating a girl that drives a 93 lx 2.3. ive worked on it to do basics. a lil while back it would only do once a month or so, now its left her stranded 2 times in 3 days. i can crank it, but it wont start. then i'll leave it alone for an hour, go try again. it cranks like it never had a problem. im almost to the point where im going to sell it, because somehow its my problem or somehow my fault. please help me out. i searched, this one doesnt have a dizzy.

please just give some ideas of where to start looking....

Can you hear the fuel pump start up when you put the key in RUN?

Are you getting spark?
