1992 Mustang LX Convertible cigarette lighter problem

Hey, I did a search in google and you guys seemed like the right people to ask about my mustang. The cigarette lighter doesn't work and doesn't charge/run any electronics. The battery is new, and I checked the fuses and apparently the same fuse that runs the windows also runs the cigarette lighter, so it's not the fuse. Anyone know what else I could try?

Check the wires to the lighter underneath the dash, i've had problems with those connectors, also it might be the piece in the dash. Mine works, but I have to jam say my cell phone charger in and hold it there, just don't feel like replacing it

thanks, i'll give that a try. I can actually see through the cigarette lighter to the carpeted middle where the shifter is, so i might need to replace it altogether.
