It all depends how much boost your running. They made those SVO's for boost. You're trying to tell me ford made the 2.3 to be boosted? You gotta be kidding me. Only if the engine has less then 50k miles and you're not running more then 7 lbs of boost. Don't be ignorant and start ranting about SVO's and turbos stock and then your next post and state that you don't know if there are any internal differences. THAT'S IGNORANT.

You're right. I am ignorant. WHICH IS WHY I POSTED THAT THEY SHOULD ASK SOMEONE ELSE. I know that *stock* intercooled Turbo 2.3Ls put out 200hp. I know that these motors have been built to put out 900 hp after doing every trick you can. I know that *stock* 2.3L blocks can hold 400hp with no modifcation (according to William R. Mathis, Mustang Performance Handbook), and I've seen 2.3s that are holding over 20 lbs of boost, daily driven.
However, I fully admit that I don't know exactly how the internals differ between the N/A 2.3L and the 2.3L Turbo. My somewhat educated assumption is that the only difference is the compression ratio, which I'm inferring comes from different pistons. However, I've never torn down the two motors side by side for comparison. In all my looking/drooling over different cars, different motors, etc. I've never come accross anyone saying anything like "Yeah, make sure you grab the turbo bottom end, the n/a is crap!" What my intent was with my posting was to correct whoever said you can't boost a 2.3. when I know for a fact that you can. But I admit, I can't go over in intricate detail why a 2.3 *can* hold up to the boost, so like I said before, that makes me ignorant. So, I hope this helps whoever was wanting info on 2.3s, I stand by every word I've said so far in this thread. That being said, do you know what the differnces are in the internals? Can you explain why you say that the motors will only hold up to 7lbs and only if the motor has less than 50K on it?

all bolt ons. kthnx to the guy that said they arent made for boost. the engine came from a turbo t-bird. makin over 400hp wit the stock block and the difference between the internals is in the pistons. dished pistons designed for forced induction give 8:1 compression ratio (i belive)
