1990 Mustang probs

I'm having some problems with my mustang, it's hesitating , and has a really bad lack of power when axcellerating kinda sounds like a chugging noise. I have replaced the spark plugs and that did seems to work but only for a short while a few months best any ideas? I'm really hoping this is something simple as I don't have much money thanks

Am I correct in that you're saying that replacing your plugs works for a few months, then the problem returns, and replacing the plugs again gets rid of the problem for a few more months?

If that's the case, what do the plugs look like when you take them out?

I got this Mustang in 2002 I have replaced the spark plug once since this problem started occuring last summer as I said it seemed to help but the problem returned the old spark plugs I pulled out were pretty blackened on the engine side of the plug I'm not sure if replacing the plugs again will help.

BTW thanks for any and all help

Oh I also forgot to say that it does it after I have been driving it for about 15 min or so and keeps doing after the engine has come up to normal operating temp. The engine also idles at about 800 rpm is this too low? I'm thinking and hoping it justs need a tune up. I may head to auto zone and get new spark plug wires and a new battery

I just drove it and when I step on the gas the ride becomes very jerky like it's not getting enough fuel or something isn't engaging right. maybe the clutch is going bad could be a number of things.

Well, blacked plugs generally means it's burning oil. If that's the case, then that would explain the lack of power (oil isn't gonna give you the power gas would), Or it's running really rich, something else that'd foul the plugs.

Plugs and wires aren't going to solve your problem. For some reason, your engine is either sucking oil, or running really rich on acceleration. I also don't think it's a clutch problem at all.

Worst case, I think your rings might be shot. But that's worst case. I'd check your fuel system/delivery stuff. Go through your dirty hands book and check things like your thottle position sensor and make sure that's all working right. Timing would be another easy thing to check. Make damn sure that everything is running to spec before you start buying parts.
