Have you checked the fuel pressure?

What do the spark plugs look like?

Has the car had a recent tune up?

Can you hear a hissing noise coming from the engine, while its running?

I would start with the tune-up parts, since it sounds like you were going to do that anyway. I would definitely change the plug wires as well as the plugs. The color of the plugs can tell a story here. If they are black in color, that could indicate a rich running condition or possibly oil fouling. If they are light tan in color, that could indicate a lean condition.

If your plugs are white,it could indicate a lean condition. Check your fuel pressure next. It should be around 45 LBS. Dirty injectors are less likely.

Yes, it could be the fuel pressure regulator, or the O2 sensor or the coolant temp sensor, or a bad fuel pump, or a couple of other things.

I need a little more info, in order to help you.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? how many lbs?

Does it have a miss at idle?

Try starting the engine, let it warm up and while it is running, pull one fuel injector plug from an injector at a time and see if the idle becomes more rough or stays the same. This can tell you if you have a dead cylinder or a bad injector.

BTW Have you checked the fuel pressure?

Doing this, can help solve some of this mystery.
