I need spicifics!!! ;)
Hey anyone reading this, i would like your help on something. I have a 2.3l engine just hanging out in my garage, (due to a 5.0 swap i did) its a stock 2.3l with very low miles, only has 66,000, so i dont want to just get rid of it, (the 88 was garage kept) it was a auto trans, so it never was beatin, and i just would like to learn more about motors and turbos so i figured i get my hands dirty with this project. Basically i want to know, or should i say, confirm somethings, like, will upgrading the pistons to lets say, a stock svo/tc 2.3t engine be a good start, i ran into some at my local treasureyard (junkyard). i was also going to upgrade the cam shafts and crankshaft since the motor is on a floating motor mount, what else can i do to insure if i run 20-23psi that i wont blow the engine, shes a nice engine, i would upload pix of it, it has alot of chrome, but my camera broke. once this is all done i'll start putting up other forums about turboing and nossing it, but for now, i just want to build a mean stock motor. any help and ideas are all welcome, i would like you guys to be all part of this build, just so i can dedicate the motor build and car to this website and forums!!! so dont hesitate to leave a comment or start a agresive comment conversation with someone, because thats when the real info comes out, thanks, fredstar.

Hey Fred, welcome to the forums. Just so we get this right, you are going to build an N/A motor for now? Or do you want to slowly transition from N/A to turbo. The reason I ask, is that a lower compression piston, would make more sense for a turbo motor, but wouldn't be the best choice for the N/A motor. Cam choice can also take a turn in a different direction, depending on what kind of motor you want to end up with.
Money, is the biggest consideration here and turbo motors can get a bit spendy. Is this motor going back in the 88'? Here's the link to the SVO forums. SVO Forum
