Try the crank sensor, which is probably the most common failure on these vehicles.

If you look at the production data on the Mustang, you will find that by the end of the 89' year, the dual plug engines were all ready being installed, so finding a single plug engine in a 90' model, would be very rare.

I myself must have two rare cars????? every 1990 I have seen has the single plug head?? build dates on my two stangs are 3/90 and 4/90, both have single plugs and a distributor. I always thought the dual plug heads come out in '93??? which now seems odd because thats the last year for the 2.3's.

just thought about does your car have the dual plug head and coils or does it have a distributor?(stang 90)?

I've always thought the same as you, every 90 I have seen has been single plug.

Well thanks for the ideas guys, as it turns out it was the ignition module it was broke I don't know how i missed the crack in it when i took it off to test it thx again guys. On the subject on the dual plugs I thought those came on the 1991 mustang though I am not really sure mine is the single plug is there anything i could do to supe it up? I really hate the guttless power for the 2.3 but i also have read alot on the 2.3 and I know u can get some power off these little bad boys so if u guys have an idea throw them at me i only got 500 to spend on it right now anyways ttyl guys

OHC230 is getting some power out of his !. A good head goes along way but they are expensive.You can do the regular things (intake ,header,cam,exhaust .) but to really get any power you have to spend some dollars on the head or turbo it.

Sorry guys for the mis-info, apparently installation of the dual plug motors started halfway through the production year starting in 6/90.

Here is some more 90' Mustang production info.

128,189 Mustangs were produced in 1990.

1990 FORD MUSTANG VIN DECODER

* 1FA ... Ford Motor Co.
* C ... Restraint System (C-air bags & active belts)
* P ... Passenger Car
* A ... 2.3L EFI I 4
* E ... 5.0L EFI V-8
* 40 ... 2dr Coupe
* 41 ... 2dr Hatchback LX
* 42 ... 2dr Hatchback GT
* 44 ... 2dr Convertible LX
* 45 ... 2dr Convertible GT
* 6 ... Check Digit (varies)
* L ... Year (L - 1990)
* F ... Plant (F - Dearborn)

Stang 90, I would start with a good header, like this one:

2.3 Ford Pinto Late Model Headers

And this cam
Racer Walsh Stage 1 Hyd. roller camshaft Ford 2.3L OHC

Both of these items will bring you into some HP.
