FORD RANGER 4X4 5 SP TRANSMISSION Or this one also? http://tulsa.craigslist.org/pts/1941097057.html Or would a transmission off a 3.0 6 cylinder ford ranger work? Last edited by 92mustang04yfz; September 15th, 2010 at 11:15 PM. |

I would not recommend the Mazda transmissions. Hold out for a T-5.

I know it was a Mazda Tranny because my dad had the old shop manual to the truck you saw in a ford dealership machanic shop. It was a 4 speed with OD. 2.8 V6. Most dependable vehicle outside his Diesels, Duster, and bobcat wagon he's had. Tranny was awesome. Never broke a sweat pulling dad's old 460 Eco Van loaded with a Scissors lift in the back. From experience with the OLDER Trannys i never had one problem with them or the motor for that matter other than basic stuff you'd do to any vehicle.
As far as the newer stuff, I can't relate as I'm not sure if they are still the same tranny. OHC seems rather knowledge on it though and would trust his judgement. Besides, T-5 is dependable, and rather cheap if you hunt for one long enough. If they didn't change anything it should be the same Tranny as the one in my old ranger According to Wiki. Then again they had a few 5 speeds that could fit depending upon application. Source of info Mazda M5OD transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

What's wrong with the tranny you have now? Can't you just have it rebuilt? If you're willing to do some shipping here's one here in Florida that would need a rebuilding. Mustang t5 transmission (VERY CHEAP!!!)
