battery light...stays dim even with motor off

*not driven 93 mustang 2.3L for about a month...been outside,and rained alot*

-battery light staying on (bright when keys in motor running...***staying on but dimm, motor off key out***)
-if i pull fuse #18 then the dimm battery light goes out completely
-note...volt meter showing normal and believe charging

any ideas? i understand battery light on,could be alternator...but why does light stay on,all be it dimm even when motor is off and keys out????

Take it off and have it tested.

yes will do that...but wondering why battery light is staying dimm (unless i pull fuse #18 panel warning lights among other things)???

im thinking with this panel light on dimm, would battery go dead after a while?

Shit sorry, mis-read that entire post. Sounds like you have a short? Would check your wiring and cross reference with your manual to make sure everything is where it should be and nothing on the hot side is making a good enough connection to keep it on.

Hey Tom, I have an easy test to try, can you pull the red B+ wire off the Alternator and tell us if the light goes out.

OHC230:

ok i pulled the red connection and light went off...i also tryed starting without connection and it starts ,but now voltage reg showing not charging (makes sence)

also i notice the red plug had some type vasoline like subtance on it (no idea why) wiped that clean and repluged it in,but light comes back on (allbe it dimmer then if i have key in and running)

so for tonight (im out there with flashlight lol) i unhooked the red plug so at least light is out,and thus hopefully no drain on battery

im taking i need to have alternator checked? (even with voltage reg showing battery charging)

edit: i see gel is some type "dielectric gel" i googled and noticed it can help prevent electric heat and fire...so im guessing wiping off not such a good thing???

Vasoline stuff sounds like the same stuff you put on your spark plug wires to protect the connection of erosion/rust.
