Or I could just drive the car up to Advance Auto Parts or somewhere, remove the belt and have them match it up with one on their belts rack lol......They've got a belt measurement tool too.

i know your just talking about removing a belt quickly and walking it in but i prefer not to work on my car in front of the parts store.

it hurries me and i usually wind up leaving with some messed up compromise on what i actually needed to do since i am that particular parts store's bitch until my car is back on the road.

I just to prefer to not have to change belt sizes two or three times before the right length is found. It's worse when you can't try the belt on your car until you get home only to find out that its too short or way too long.
My '95 Cobra was always the worst for finding the right length belt; I was using BBK u/d pulleys with the air pump deleted. finally I just ended up putting the factory pullies back on and then finding a belt was a little easier. Autozone and Advance don't have a problem with test-fitting belts in the parking lot. Usually only takes a few minutes anyway.

leave the a/c idler and run the belt: crank - water pump - idler.
you'll need to measure up a new shorter belt

I must be missing something here.............are you referring to a setup that uses the Ranger crank pulley?

my '93 has a separate belt that runs crank/waterpump/AC. I just removed that belt when the clutch went out on my compressor.........and then I removed the compressor, compressor bracket, accumulator and condensor. The condensor was badly damaged by the previous owner of my car and needed to be replaced anyway.

Why Waste your money at all? Just run it without the AC belt altogether! Thats what i did when my A/C compressor seized up.

Zonker's underrrive set-up uses the A/C belt to drive the water pump.
