Anyone ever tried this??
Has anyone ever tried the supercharging route instead of the turbo route? Say a belt driven centrifugal supercharger? I think it takes quite a bit of hp just to spool one of them babies, so you'd prolly need to run a bit more boost than normal. So forged internals would be a must probably. Just curious.
lol

A friend of mine promissed me that it would wrk, I'm not sure if such low HP would do the trick. Also don't like the parasitic ways of the belt driven blood sucking suppercharger
I think I would go for it on a second project 2.3

Yeah i was worried about the parisitic loss of the belt driven. But i thought if you maybe underdrove the pulleys, and bump the boost to 7 or 8psi, you would gain maybe.... 40 hp? Just a guess... Lolol

Supercharging isn't usually used on smaller motors because the parasitic loss makes the gain not worth the cost of the supercharger. For all the money you put out, you might see 40hp. Meanwhile a turbo will net you close to 100.
Every single supercharger I've ever seen for a 4-cylinder is a positive-displacement unit, too. All the aforemention 22R peices, the stock supercharger for the 4A-GZE, the aftermarket units for BMWs and Miatas... not a single centrifugal among them.

I never tried it but i did look into it briefly. I actually own a old corolla with a 4agze in it and wandered if the charger like they have could be fabricated to work on a 2.3. The 4agze's use a SC12 but toyota also used an SC14 in their Previa vans. You can pick up the chargers cheap on ebay but it just looked rather complicated to fab up, and it also would require some tuning. But somebody should give it a try and let us know how it works...

I have to agree with the Reverend as far as the wrecking yard types of swaps go, but check this link out. Pretty cool stuff! 2006-2008 Honda S2000 2.2L Supercharging Systems | Vortech Superchargers

Dude, your killing me! I don't own a Honda. ![]() I just thought that Vortech set-up was pretty cool and it seems to make a lot of power in that Honda crap (365 HP) Besides, Honda doesn't even design most of thier power train items, they hire independant companies to do most of that design work, so you can't even give them props for the stuff that you see in that picture.

You were showing an S2k... what's wrong with that? Sure, it has about the same torque as a pencil rolling across a desk, but that's not the point. It's a high-rpm roadster. You don't bitch about a screwdriver's inability to pound nails.
Honda != Honda fanboys. VTEC *is* awesome, but it does NOT replicate the effects of displacement (it replicates the effects of the motor being cammed). I'd hit it.
