help w/running prob please

i got a 93 5spd 2.3l with a auto ecu in it and it has running problems

idles fine and wot is o.k.

but under 2500 rpms it starts cutting back and bucking under a load (also hard to start spins over too long)

it has new

autolite wires and plugs
new 02 sensor
new fuel filter
coil packs have been changed with different coils (used)
changed maf (new)
changed ign module (used)
changed baro sensor (used)
new timing belt
fuel press 35 line connected and 44 disconnected
vaccuum is at 18lbs idling
fuel press reg holds vaccuum (checked with handheld vaccuum pump)

could the crank sensor be causing this?

ive found that if i unplug the coil that fires the exhaust plugs it seems to run fine

not sure what direction to go in

crank sensor is 120 bucks and thats a pricey guess but ive darn near tried everything else

id start with a fuel pressure check because at wot a slight vacuum is drawn through the fuel system but at lower vacuum levels it could be running lean should be 40psi.

the crank sensor a dis module alone control timing and coil control they usually dont throw codes until complete failure. but until they do they cause chaos. start by replacing them i know its expensive but its mentioned in every ford TSB they are prone to failure. u can usually find them cheap on ebay

then id start with the ignition like i said . also check for vss(vehicle speed sensor) codes. i had a vss going out on me and it ran really funky, missing and stalling. the vss comes out of the tranny were the spedo cable goes in.

also you stated if you unplug the exhaust coil it runs fine right? have you checked the firing order? also how hot are your coils and dis getting? you should try to keep them as cool as possible

well it was kinda a easy guess seeing as how ive replaced everything up to that point so the crank sensor was a no brainer

i put off replacing crank snesor cause i had no way of getting a used one....without air tools accessable its hard to get one off a junk car...all the other parts was a easy swap so i was just trying to avoid spending a 100 bucks if i could...i returned all the other parts that didnt cure it so no loss there

I've got a different problem though, no start. I just took the IRCM into autozone and passed ok, replaced and ignition module on strut tower and both coils with known good ones. I've checked for spark, none.

so you replaced the "black box" on the pass side fender, DIS and the coils with known good ones correct? have you tried a crank sensor, fusable links, the park neutral position switch? on a side note there is a special tool to check the crank sensor.
