MSD?? NOT EVEN...

I can live without the ignition rev limiter for $100, and besides... this is DIS! The MSD is just a fancy distributor with a single plug coil, and by the time you add up dizzy, coil, wires, and a CD box you're way over $500 with the MSD stuff.

Cry and buy a new one? theres a reason MSD has been on top for 50 years also who makes the ingitions for Top fuelers....wait for it....tada MSD!!!!!

Don't fall for all the MSD marketing hype. That company is a shell of what it once was.

I sell MSD... and I can tell u those fancy schmancy ford DIS coilpack they sell are made in China, not USA.

Besides, 'aint no way a cap and a rotor can give you the same control as the DIS type setup.
And you're claiming superiority because of multiple sparks?? OH please!
That crap is only good for gas mileage and fixing a shoddy designed ignition system like a old centrifugal advance distributor which you recommend paying good money for.

And as far as price... just because you're going to get a MSD 6AL out of 'Ol Barneys El Camino for $100 doesn't mean much to me about how much cheaper it is. It just means your advanced techonolgical base for building your dream ignition rests with 'Ol Barney.

Besides, why would i have to cry when it failed? The company is here in California, and I could drive there if I wanted to. Can't say that about MSD, which resides in Texas.

Besides... the company name may be unrecognized to you but that doesn't mean they don't have cred:

Our corporate color may be green, but we are not… The engineering staff at Compu-Tronix has been designing and manufacturing electronic ignition systems for over 40 years. We have continually been a pioneer of innovative products, obtaining numerous design patents along the way.

To our credit, the following design accomplishments;

* The first electronically triggered ignition system ever installed on an automobile.
* The first electronic ignition module that fit entirely within a distributor.
* The first Distributorless Ignition System that could be easily retrofit to a conventional breaker point distributor.
* The first microprocessor ignition system ever installed on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
* US Patents; 3906920, 3581720, 3581725, 6895915, D467541, D429216.

Just because it's not a common name thanks to millions of dollars in stickers and advertising like MSD doesn't mean it's not a well built quality unit.

Nyah Nyah!!!

Why DIS?
Standard distributors distribute a spark to each plug in turn, from a single coil. At higher RPM’s, they cannot charge and discharge the coil fast enough to deliver a full charge to the spark plugs. The DIS4 solves this problem through the use of two 60,000 volt coils charging and discharging in turn, allowing each coil sufficient time to charge and discharge a full spark. This equals more power.

Conventional cap and rotors allow for spark degradation, arcing and ozone as the current travels through the rotor and across to the cap contacts. By doing away with these antique parts, the DIS4 is capable of supplying a full energy charge from the coil to the spark plug with no loss.

Regardless of brand names, or claims to the contrary… The DIS system delivers more power than any single coil system, Bar None!

Math and Physics can’t be argued with. Simply put… It works!

I think I'll stick with my 8 x $2 + $30 = $48? ignition system versus the $600 DIS system. blah.

This looks like a nice system for racing cars, but for the $$ why not just use factory DIS system parts and buy a $250.00 Moates 1/4 Horse to do your tuning??

drilling holes in a block scares me. Thats what you'd have to do to add a crank sensor to a 4 plug motor, right?
