1000 dollar budget
so i found out today that it has a splitfire engine with the eight plug. i think i will have a 1000 dollar budget to work with to make teh engine roar. What would be the best upgrades for the money??

putting a turbo on a dual-plug can be done but it's a real big pain in the ass.with a thousand bucks to spend I would look for a turbo-coupe engine .

1000
your profile says your out in Virginia.
I was supposed to be headed out to Luray Va 1st week of may to pick up a 88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with a T5 Behind it for a grand. The guy that has it is a mechanic and hes had it for 3 years because the owner left it. He's selling it as a parts car but it is fully functional with a 2.3 Turbo engine. I would have purchased it but I just found a 2.3T mustang here just yesterday and bought it. Let me know if you want it and I can fwd you pics and I can get you in touch with the guy that has it. * Note: Mustang People always know where to find a good hookup on parts *

For $1K, I agree that gears would be your best start, but after that I'd put my money on suspension and/or tires. A grand really isn't enough to make signifigant power gains with a 2.3L, so you might as well do the most with the hp you have. I think Maximum Motorsports has a "starter box" for mustang suspension that can get you going on the right path.

i'd rather have a good handling car then a fast car with poor suspension, i agree with Reverend, go with suspension and gears, then you'll pretty much have alot of wins under belt on the highway especially, but use EBAY!! and use it wisely and im sorry if you dont lke my avatar Stang
