Pissed, 93 stang broken interior door handle.


I had a problem with water leakage at the top of my drivers door so I replaced the door hinge pins when I noticed the door was sagging. The leak was still there so I replaced the weatherstripping on the door opening. Right after that I got in the car and went to reopen the door, except it wouldn't open from the inside and I ended up breaking the inside door handle right off the door. The drivers door apparently is still sagging too.
What I need to know is if I can replace just the handle and its spring (old spring broke too along with the holes that the inside handle snaps into which is plastic) or is this a mjor assembly that needs to be replaced?

just the handle assy should suffice.

i found that the handles and linkages work much easier if you have the plastic bushing intact on the door latch striker bolt. just a tip...

Plastic bushing on the striker bolt?
I don't think I've ever seen a plastic bushing on any of the Fox cars that I've come across. I know that LRS offers them but for some reason "band-aid fix" in bright neon letters showed up as thats what I thought that was. Their description seemed to imply that the bushing was only there as a band aid fix. I'll definitely see if I can find them on some junkyard cars though.
the interior door handle assembly itself was a ridiculously easy replacement.

the bushings were oem and your car had them when new. They do break over time and when they do they leave a loose fitting door, which many people, unknowing that the bushing is gone, adjust the striker so the door closes tight.

BUT whan that is done, it creates a need for more pressure to be exerted on the door handle, which then causes the handle to break.

If your car doesn't have them, u can get a set at any autozone for like 4 bucks. They are made by dorman and the pack contains 4 bushings. 2 are the size you need and 2 are not.
