With gas nearing $4 a gallon and my 4 cylinder torn all the way down right now(blown head gasket) what can I do going back together to mod to get some better mpg?

Raising the compression slightly( .5-1.0 point) and adding a small tube header "not the Ranger factory one" will definately help. The factory Roller cam is fairly good on gas, if don't have one of those all ready.

read my eco-modding thread... i'm averaging over 27mpg and have seen a high of 36mpg so far.

ecomodder.com is a great forum to give you some helpful ideas as well.

I know its kind of a bad example, but in high school i swapped from auto to manual ( should have gained me 2-3 mpg i think. And i put a head on that had been shaved .135". Factory gas mileage for a 2.3l mustang with a manual (t5) should be about 25 i think. I was getting between 32-35 Mpg on the higway with it. Raising compression works wonders on these engines.
