I found a website that makes an alternator underdrive pulley. I know Zonker made a thread about junkyard pulleys, but I don't like to alter the actual routing of belts. Has anyone tried this pulley?

I was wondering if it would be worth anything. The price seems to be pretty good if its good for a couple hp. Also, do you think the belt would need to be changed? I could be wrong but I think this is only about 1" larger than stock which means it should be able to be run on the factory belt I would think.

the pulley by itself is good for a alternator speed reduction of 14 percent.

If you don't want to re-route belts (which is really no big deal), then do the 87-90 2.3 water pump pulley and leave the crank pulley alone. That will slow the water pump down 9 percent.

Power wise, we're not talking big gains, but it will probably give you 2-4hp.

As for the belt, the stock belt tensioner should allow you to make it work, but pay attention to whether or not you have too much pressure on the belt - running a tensioner on the tight side will invite premature tensioner bearing failure.
