takin SVO to track sat....

takin my 84 svo to a 1000ft track this weekend and i was wondering if you guys had any helpful tips, and any last minute adjustments or things i should do to the car before i go. Car has 3" turbo back, cold air, boost controller, fmu, and thats pretty much it...

Make sure you have good rear tires.

just make sure you build boost before that light turns green. Find where your car likes the RPM at for that.

Unless you have a 2 step or something similar I don't know any way to build boost with an otherwise factory SVO.

The 2.3T will run better with some wheel spin than bogging down. I would start at 4k rpm launch and judge how much spin you get, if it's a lot and no bog at all then drop a little, say 3500 rpm, if it bogs then go back up. You can also take off the front sway bar for some better weight transfer.

I wouldn't go very low on tire pressure with a street tire. It could "cup" in the contact patch effectively removing a lot of traction. The harder sidewalls and rubber do that.

Take out whatever weight you can. What is your boost set at and how much fuel pressure does it show?

oh and i was messin with the car last night doin a few thing like changin oil etc and i turned the boost controller up more just to see what it would top out at. The guage is reading 27psi in all gears. i didnt think a stock turbo would flow that much?? im going to turn it back down anyway im afraid to run it that high. Im also thinking about running a 50 shot dry... what do u think if im running 22-25 psi and the nitrous? bad idea?

The t3 will make that boost but it's more heat than anything else. They are really pretty useless past 23psi. With your fuel set up I wouldn't run past 19psi, and even that you should be listening really close for detonation.

What did your a/f gauge say when you were at 27psi?

Nitrous would be a bad idea for how you are set up right now. Especially with a dry shot you are essentially adding more air to what is already a lot of air when in boost. Very doubtful the factory injectors will flow enough to handle that and you will likely burn a hole in a piston. Same story with running up to 27psi in all gears. That's a very dangerous thing to play with.

I'm from Genoa, AR. About half an hour outside of Texarkana. I've got family that live in Rodgers. Did you make it out to the track? I hope you decided against that nitrous and 22-25psi...

Actually after rereading your set up, there is no way factory 84 fuel pumps will supply enough fuel for that much boost, let alone nitrous on top of it.

Nope, never been to Centerville, and only been to Rodgers and Eureka Springs once.

What were your times? You gotta share!
