91-up 2.3's have no oil pressure gauge!
Yep, thats right... even though theres a gauge on the instrument panel, and it does go from zero to half way once the motor is running, it's still not a gauge.
It turns out the 2.3 does not use a variable resistance oil pressure sending unit, but rather a simple on-off oil pressure switch blended with a 20 ohm resistor to give the impression that the gauge is giving you some sort of pressure reading other than zero. The 5.0's use a real oil pressure sending unit and do not have the resistor added to the gauge, so they show true oil pressure based on variable resistance of the sending unit. So... if you want your gauge to truly work, a 5.0 sender and removal of the resistor on the gauge will be in order.
