Dual Exhaust, Finally!

So guys, i just wanted to let you know that my exhaust is sudo-complete!

I have the stock 2" exhaust running up until it hits a 2-1/4 in, 2x2-1/4 out thrush welded muffler, then to two dynomax LX 5.0 tails. As for now they are only clamped, because i have to remove them soon for my t-5 swap. after that i plan on welding my 2 new chrome 2-1/4 to 3" tips on. I'll get some pics and sound clips up ASAP. And perhaps an instructional if anyone wants to do this as well.

I'm suspecting a loss of low end torque with this setup but the dual tailpipes will look awesome!

It Sounds awesome, but my muffler is too far forward, so there is a mild vibration. I'm going to rework it this weekend once i get the T-5 in.

And as for your assumption Cobraman, you are somewhat correct. As it stands now, i cant squeal the tires from a stop, so i dont have a whole lot of torque, but it may have a lot to do with my slowly dying transmission... I'm waiting for my flywheel... Damn Canada post and their striking...

Sadly now, my T-5 is sitting waiting for yet another week, due to the fact that my new clutch kit is lacking a damned alignment tool and pilot bearing. So my exhaust job will be put on holld as well. Quite sorry guys. i'll get out there tomorrow with a camera and get some videos...

Well mine is sort of a thrown together DIY type thing. No pretty mandrel bends, just good ol shade tree 45 degree cut and welds! I'll get on the video thing. Sorry guys!

you can buy a builders kit of mandrel bent exhaust that comes with enough to do duals for a 4 banger stang for $110-140

I'm thinking of getting a Flowmaster 40 single in duel out. What size of pipe should I use if I wanna get the 2.5" tail pipes?

I wish i had thought about it, i bought my material last august for my turbo downpipe from them. wish i had mentioned it earlier. I am going to be getting the kit for myself when my turbo goes back on, i plan on building a y pipe and building my tail sections.

Spkslayer – Typically if you’re going to use 2.5” tail pipes you should run 2.5” exhaust. Keep the pipe the same size or smaller than the tail pipes or you could cause the system to choke down the exhaust gases and lose velocity.

Is your car a street car or a racing car? What kind of mods have you done to your Mustang? Mods will determine what size exhaust system you should run for best performance.

Its a street car. Only mods the intake muffler deleated. I want to get forged pistons and some day add a turbo. SCT also said they would make my a custom tune.
