1988 auto trans leaking at shift lever..see pic

Just bought this 1988 2.3L today

It's a automatic and leaking transmission oil where the lever bolt goes into the transmission (see pic..because i may not have name correct)....it there a way to stop the leak? Aeasy fix? or does this require taking pan off ect?

ps: i did make sure the bolt holding the lever going into the transmission was tight (it is)

pic of car (poor lighting) other then this leak the car runs great and is in really nice condition...has 168k original km's....was owned by older lady who could no longer drive

thanks....

besides that trans leak...im going to change speedometer cable (bouncing around) and real minor leak on valve cover...

i found on craigs the other day...older lady 80 stopped driving..it's got 168' original km's...she had all the old paper work (shows two years ago head gasket, timing chain ect done)...the body is mint, and interior pretty close also...and the price i payed...lets just say i got a really really good deal :-)

well trans leak is now fixed! i figured was over my head,so took into trans place today...they fixed that leak, plus a couple minor ones and replaced gasket/fluid/cleaned completely up. cost was $150...i was very impressed!...maybe it's me,but also seems to idle better now and shifting is more smooth...

so shout out to ALLteck transmission here in richmond/vancouver cdn

...now on to trying to fix the speedometer cable...this looks like fun...

update:

been really busy...so had a local mustang place here in vanc take care of a few things...speedo,valve cover leak, fuel pump (was humming overly loud and didn't want to take chance being stranded) and a couple other minor things.....

got her back today and she is running like a champ...and it's unreal the attention this puppy gets.(at gas station had a bunch of people come up and say how nice cond ect ect...always feels good)

btw: the place in vanc i took her too was speedpro, and found threw our local vancouvermustangs web site...
