ok this one is for TurboLX and StangOpens


Heres my dilemma, I have my 2.3 (stock) running fine finally.
then my 89LX 2.3Turbo Car is running fine but the body is in need of major attention.

My 5.0 somehow accidently twisted the subframe and now I need a new body. (I promise to play nice from now on. )

And by the second week of next month I should have a 1988 thunderbird turbocoupe in my possession.


What do you guys think I should do ? What should I sell , what should I keep and what should I buck up and fix ?

well since the 5.0 body is shot, i would just make t a race car and take the guts of the turbo coupe and throw it in the stock 2.3 OR throw the 2.3T from the thunderbird into the 5.0, take the 5.0 and out it in the turbo coupe fix the body of the 2.3 turbo and use the stock 2.3 as a daily beater

Heres the Plan for now but may change in a day or so.

2.3 Turbo Car - needs a whooole lotta work so Im keeping the engine and selling it for parts. There are a ton of good parts all over it.


5.0 - Body is HELL so Im going to put my engine and tranny in a GT Body and call it a day.


2.3 Stock - will eventulally get the Turbo motor but for now it will just get more upgrades done to it. Make it a great 2.3 then take it Turbo.


88 - Thunderbird Turbo Coupe - is going to be brought back to life slowly. Looks like it will be here sooner than I thought.

Umm if anyone is in GA and wants a 2.3T engine I'm open for a cheap sale.

If not it will be completely rebuilt and made into a BEAST of unimaginable TERROR.

oh its a bone stock one with a Garrett T3, do you know the A/R of that turbo by any chance?? and no offense, but i wouldnt pay $500 for it, maybe more like $400, i wish i could have it but i got too many projects now as well as a 5L TT im building, but put it on ebay if you can, and people will swarm all over it

StangOpens are you serious ? Out here in GA I know that 5.0's comes a dime a dozen but a 2.3T is damn near impossible to locate.


You can find them at that price ? I'd like to come out your way and grab some stuff.

TurboLX what other projects are you working on ?

I know your building a 2.3T but what else ?

I just got a Garrett T3/T4 Turbo with manifold off of some dude who wanted to use it on his tractor .






Now If I can put that T3 on a go kart then all will be well. I will have a twin turbo go kart. even if means blowing up the 6.5HP engine.

lol i see turbo t-birds all the time around here.. so theres gotta be a ton at the junkyard

and yes u can, they hav weekly specials where ALL engines are $65, easy to get a 351W if i wanted one.. lol plus i can get all the parts off the GT.. of course, they prolly wont have everything there, but come back in a while and they might, u never know

and yea man, this place is kinda famous around here.. ppl come from NY, NJ, Virginia, D.C., Deleware.. good stuff and good deals

u kno wut i was thinking of last night? getting a 2.3 block from the junkyard.. leaving mine in and use the junk one to do that volvo head swap after i clean it up and stroke it..

then add a turbo to it and see how it goes.. dunno tho, i need money and lots of it.. and i still gotta mod my car.. c'mon lottery ticket!!

I did the research and I did find a crapload of 2.3T engines from the place u mentioned earlier. But they are pretty much at least $400 and most dont even have a turbo on it anymore. I gotta learn more about these price break deals and then take a few days off work , fly out , and get me an engine and then rent a truck and drag it back here. But I must admit out here 5.0's are everywhere but if you mention a 2.3T most will say it never existed.

I looked at the site and it seems to be that they keep an online parts inventory on another site. Its nothing more than a really kewl looking PHP Frontend with a MySQL Backend.

I ran a search for 88 Thunderbird 2.3T and found a lot. So if I were to just search for 2.3T Im sure I would have gotten a ton of more parts.
