New 2.3T Wont Start Or Crank
I just got my 2.3 turbo motor into my 91 LX and it wont start at all. I turn the key and nothing happens. I put a new starter on that I just had tested and checked out. I shorted the solenoid and it clicks. The battery has juice. What could the problem be?

Do the dash lights come on? It sounds like an ignition switch issue.

Brandy, can you turn the motor over by hand using a breaker bar?
Check your cable connections. Take them apart and look at them (with battery disconnected) use a wire brush to remove all corrosion. Is battery fully charged?

the dash lights do come on. CAbles are clean and yes the engine can be rotated by hand. I got it to rotate yesterday by using a screwdriver on the starter solenoid but sometimes that works and other times it doesnt.

Does anything come on when the key is put to the "run" position or "acc" position?
Double check the grounding strap has good contact on BOTH ends. I fought a poor connection with the block ground strap for days before I realized what it was. A cheap/very easy way to check, get some speaker wire, wrap it around a header tube and put the other end on the fire wall in an area with NO paint. Have someone crank or do it yourself.

Try the ignition wire it may have came unhooked from the solonoid
