Timing Belt Replacement 2.3L


im trying th get my ranger all in time after the head came back from the machine shop... is there any other way to move the tensioner rather than spending 100 bucks on a tool ill only use maybe twice in my lifetime? im clueless.. ive heard anbout using prybars but no luck... appreciate the info..

It is a pain but i have alway used a prybar. It works best with a long square shenk one with a curve at the end. I think there is a bolt head you can catch the straight part of the bar on(either the cam pulley bolt or the bolt that the belt tensioner pivots on). Slide the belt to the back side of the tensioner pulley so that you don't damage the belt. hope this helps

shit i didnt even think about doing that lol i usedd a 6 inch c clamp on the end of the tensioner wheel and the water pump casing.. worked pretty good....
