Bought new parts, but volts are still low.


I replaced my alternater, battery, and battery terminals but my volt meter is still reading really low. Any thoughts or suggestions?

First a question. How low is the voltage? A good way of isolating this problem is by starting at the power source working your way out. Disconnect the battery cables at the battery and check the voltage, then do the same with the alternator disconnected, then pull all of the fuses from the fuse box and replace them one at a time to look for a power drain. I suspect you have a bad ground or a partial short somewhere in the electrical system. Try isolating the various system and re-post if you don't find the problem.

Yep I was gonna say bad ground. Do what he said ^^^ check everything.

Does your "AMP" light turn on when you first turn the ignition on? My AMP bulb was out creating a voltage issue. The SVO instrument cluster is special to the charging system in that if that bulb is out, you will get about 12V.

Had the same issue, did some diggin around and that was the issue...back up to over 14v.
