I can tell you that its probably just the casting number, and if you want to know the specs you should just measure it. If you have the right tools.

Well, you can measure a cam with a dial indicator and a degree wheel. you can measure the lift with just a micrometer(or dial caliper if you arent looking for EXACT numbers) but a micrometer will only tell you the size of the lobe lift. You will need to know the rocker arm ratio which i think is 1.6:1 on a 2.3. Im sure if im wrong someone will let you know. the degree wheel is necessary to figure out duration and phasing. If you can find the tools, there are quick instructional videos on youtube on how to measure.

To measure the lobe lift its easy, take your mic, or caliper, and measure the base circle, do this on the sides if you have the lobe pointed up. then measure top to bottom at its tallest point. Subtract the base circle measurement from the lobe height measurement and you get the net lobe lift. then multiply it by the rocker arm ratio to get the theoretical valve lift ( there will be less than your figured number due to lifter movement)

I personally think if you are going to build a good engine, you should just buy the $1000 complete head overhaul kit from Esslinger. It comes with eveything to build a badasss head for the 2.3.

Yessir, Cam, cam followers, valves, springs, mousetrap springs, cam tower straps, valve keepers. the only thing you have to buy is the solid lifters. and th machine work to get it all to work.
