I painted my seats in the baking sun and the finish is fine and isn't wearing off at all (I did miss a whole bunch of spots though). After you paint the pieces, leave them in the sun to dry, the heat keeps the paint on. And yeah, don't sand the dash. The only thing I would sand is the center console.

I painted it laying on the trunk lid, in the heat. Shes got about 3 coats or so on her now. So she can dry for about 2+ hours then I will try and get it back in the car.
