Well to my understanding the egr valves on my mustang is powered by nothing but a vacuum. If you look at the right side of the engine at the egr valve you'll see a little colored nub sticking out, I basically plugged up the hole on the egr valve that caused the vacuum and the vacuum line itself. If this is not true then time to get to customizing.

As for how it helps to my understanding its introducing gases that have already been burned up in prior combustions. So if you eliminate it, theoretically speaking it should richen the motor up a little but you'll have nothing but clean air instead of polluted air with clean in your cylinders. Just my thinking I could be wrong.

i like that ram-air set-up.. you made it?
The ram-air setup as you call it actually came with the CAI when I bought it, just some flex tubing and an adapter that plugs into the filter. Figured what the hell fresh air can't hurt and I need all the cold air I can get cause that header is fuckin brutal. Its melted a few wires already cause of the heat it produces. Need to get some heat wrap and spray to lock it in and try to cool it down next to the intake tubing.

Ga_50_foxbody, the specs weren't put into this thread. I put em all into the owners thread at the top of this forum hence the reason you didn't see that.
i used to want to heat wrap my header too, but i read this thing about nascar drivers using it and it isnt good to wrap it

it actually destroys the header. the heat needs to dissipate and if it doesn't, the header material starts to break down. it will actually start losing weight and get to a point where the only thing holding it together is the wrap itself.

if you're really worried about it, buy a coated header, inside and out. it will keep the heat from coming thru while at the same time protecting the header itself. the only problem is.. it isn't cheap. at all. lol

and 93fourbangerstanger, the breather is for the crank case. he's only using it because he's too lazy to get a tube to put into the air intake
Hmmm must go investigate this coated thingy for the header and yes i'm actually worried about it MSO. If its melting wires that are barely near it and its not full time summer its gonna get hotter. I live in FL btw I think we hit 102 degrees today so ya must find cooling solution.

Hmmmm I wonder I still need to put a low temp thermostat in the car cause I don't like hitting 210 degrees before that fan kicks on would that possibly bring down the heat on the header itself maybe just a little. New idea to thinking of cooling system that cools the header.......

took a look to bad its all 6's and 8's on there. Please try again.... :-(

And yes I should Turbo. Pretty sure once the car heats up its pretty much nothing left to go go. Also as for the other performance post you and MSO are making. WTF is up with that gears mod bs. My cars stock and at 70 mph i'm taking like 3k rpms. I wish I could get down to 1500 at that speed and just for reference i've never touched the rear end so i'm assuming its still stock.

To turn on the the radiator fan when I please to I assume cool down the radiator fluid. Good idea really but i'm not one to pay much attention when driving. I can see it now thermostat opens fan never comes on and i'm back to square one with the brand new engine....., but i'll def look into the 160 thermostat.
