piss poor gas mileage

So ya filled up today with only 165 mile on a 15 gallon tank and it took 9.5gallons to fill up aka 17mpg..... Great 4 banger engine and i'm gettin a v6's gas milage..... so what gives any suggestions on what my problem is this time? My brain is telling me it could be the o2 sensor since that is what sends a signal to the computer to tell it to richen or lean the motor. None the less i think the exhaust might have smoked the wires causing no signal from the o2 to be read there for the computer thinks the car is way to lean and making the fuel injectors just dump gas into the engine to try and get it to not act leaned out. Any other thoughts and suggestions will be nice. Wanna get this tackled asap. Another thing that makes me thing there is something wrong with the o2 sensor and or wires is the fact the car doesn't have as much pep in its step as it used to. None the less thoughts or suggestions what my problem could be.

Couldn't tell ya. That breather on the valve cover is spitting oil all over and thats all going down the block so its all over the engine atm. I think I might put that back to a stock setup though. I prefer working on something semi clean.

Well any suggestions on who or where to take it to get the codes read so I can see if its in there. Also will the cam make more codes spew out? As for the cam everyone is telling me its a mild cam and if its that mild I highly doubt its gonna make me got from like 28mpg to 17. Plus when the cam was first put in and everything was brand new it was still getting like 25mpg.....

Ya about that see, the dummy lights are not in this car for some reason. No check engine light, no low fuel light, or anything. Its the way the car came. Like the trim is there with the little hollowed out areas that when they have a light behind them you can see it, its just the lights aren't there and there is no wiring there..... Next suggestion.

You need aftermarket gauges then

if oil is spitting out of the breather, its because the crank case is not vented, you need that thing that hooks up to your intake so it sucks the vapors thru the intake

What exactly do I need to monitor with aftermarket gauges? As for the oil, last I checked this is what you told me to do to allow air flow in and out of the valve cover. Now you want me to put it back to stock?

This is how it should be if the valve cover is still stock

air goes in the rebreather and suck thru a hose connected to the throttle body

sense your gauges have no lites, your better off getting aftermarket gauges to moniter everything Correctly

something like this? Ya thats how its set on my engine right now, i'll get a pic of all the oil all over the place tomorrow. As for the gauges I've got an aftermarket oil pressure and temp gauge. Other than that I didn't think I really needed anything else. Also what I ment is everything works fine. The tach, speedo, voltage, and such. Minus the oil pressure, engine temp, and how much gas is in the car. Whats not there is the check engine light and such. They are on the lower right hand of the steering wheel in the framing of the cluster with the speedo and such. I'll take pics of this tomorrow also for you so you can get an idea.

where that breather is, thats where the hose is suppose to be, that oil cap sucks in the air needed, but replace it with a breather, ill get a pic of how mine was
