Dipstick question

Does anyone know how long a oil dipstick should be for a 88 2.3 or can someone go measure theirs for me? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I have always thought my oil was a little low until I changed my oil a little while back. I filled it back up with 5 quarts and it now just barley showing on the dipstick so I'm thinking my car has the wrong dipstick in it and it was always overfilled before.
