In regards to the dual exhaust needing smaller pipes...I'm running 2 1/4" from the header to the mufflers and I have 2 1/2" tailpipes...Is that hurting anything with the tailpipes being larger than the rest of the system? I couldn't imagine it hurting anything.

it won't make you run faster, but what it will do is prevent your car from going slower

when the knock sensor detects a vibration it sets your timing back and slowly readjusts it to normal over time as your driving. this timing set-back could make your car feel sluggish and slower than usual

adjust your timing correctly and take the knock sensor off.. that way you won't get stuck with 70hp trying to make it up a hill

I just disconnected mine. It's the little thing on the upper intake manifold. plugs in right beside "liter" in "2.3 liter EFI". Just unplug it and you're good to go.

Just to be clear

If I want to use a block-off plate and remove the EGR valve from it's location, I simply unplug the wires at the connector and let them hang there? The dreaded check engine light won't come on?

Sounds to easy.

Thank you all for participating in this forum. I cannot tell you how long I've searched for credible information on the 2.3L N/A.

2.3L Performance

Hello All! I'm new to the forum and also to Mustangs. I've wanted one for years, and finally got the Mrs to Ok it. I bought a 92 convertible last month, 2.3L, so I can afford to drive it! With gas at $4.15 in my area of New York, I can't afford a 5.0!
I've been reading this forum for a couple weeks, and have made a couple mods to my 'Stang already. Did the EGR block off, and also made my own cold air intake. Got 24 mpg before, and hope to improve on that. Just filled up today so it will be a few days before I can figure if I got any improvements or not.
I'm curious what others have gotten out of the same mods, and what other (cheap/easy) mods can be done? I've read of HP gains and also fuel economy improvements, but I may as well be from Missouri, 'cause you gotta show me. I'm thinking some exhaust changes to improve the flow at that end couldn't hurt. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Oh, and where can I find a decent repair manual? The Haynes I bought is pretty much worthless. Thanks.

throwing a cone filter and removing siliencer, or just replacing it with a pipe, doesn't make it a cai, it makes it a wai. It might give u a half a pony or 2. Buy an extra 90* elbow and run filter through fender down behind bumper, u can tell a difference. I used two 2 1/2" exhaust from autozone, now my intakes louder than my exhaust, lol
