its got a flowtech, waitng for my turbo, and trying too get a tubular turbo header from stinger, with the intercooler kit. Buying a crotch rocket here soon so I can rip this engine apart, and install the 2.3 stroker kit and turbo cam ( but also thinking about volvo head swap, please some one talk me out of it, lol) after I get my engine and trannny done I'll work on flowmasters and dual pipes( so it will look like the gt, I'm just shooting for a clone look, but I doubt it will sound like a v8( minus 4 cylinders ), but hopefully it sounds nice under boost! The only thing I'm lacking is the fuel managment, looking for turbo lx's help(thinking megasquirt) but have never been past piggy-back systems, stand alone is all new for me.

Yeah i kind of figured most of you guys probably ran Fuel injection and not carbs. I have been building a motor for a while and almost have it complete. The Engine man I use and I are kinda of leaning toward trying E85. Hearing alot of people saying you could gain a few Xtra horsepower and torque.I was just wondering if maybe someone own here had possibly tryed it.

I've seen a 2.3 Turbo on E85 put over 360 hp to the rear wheels. Theoretically, there could be something to gain on an NA car too, with proper tuning.

so on the egr block off plate, you dont need to trick the egr valve,on the v8's i have to make a small resistor pack so it tricks the computer thinking its still hooked up.then i just cut the egr plug off and sodier the resistor pack in.

Hey Guys,
I'm new at this but thought it was the best way to get some expirenced answers to some questions that I had. First off I have 90 lx 2.3L Mustang. Some of the changes that I have made have been 8.8 tracloc rearend, cold air intake, and ranger header. My question is what is a good cam for street/strip use? I thank you guys for your time and will be waiting for all your input. |

i have a 93 lx and i was told that i could use a bigger mass air flow sensor out of a different car. any idea what it would come out of? i already installed a new cold air intake and a cone filter but the neck in the mass afs seems too small.

As far as a bolt on MAF sensor, you would be hard pressed to find a suitable upgrade, that wouldn't require some kind of tuning at the ECU, or a change to the sample tube dia.
Having said that, many people have used a MAF from a 5.0L Mustang. It is more common to see this type of mod on turbo'd cars making high HP #'s. The inlet is a critical area before the turbo, can act like a bottleneck, which can affect the entire intake system. A restricted turbo inlet can hold back a turbo, much in the same fashion as putting your finger over the end of a straw, keeping liquid from passing through it. The requirements are a bit different on N/A motors. There is a loose rule of thumb for calculating peak CFM requirements, which states: for every HP you need 2.2 CFM of air, measured at standard density. (HPX2.2)=CFM Those are rough numbers, but are close enough for most of us to make an educated guess in determining which parts we might need. If we want to get really picky, we need to account for Volumetric Efficiency, where the peak torque occurs and a handful of other variables. A stock 2.3L 90 HP Mustang engine works out to be about 135 CFM with the peak HP occurring at 4000 RPM. If you were to raise the volume efficiency to 97% "stock is somewhere around 88-90%" and you were to push the peak HP up to 6500, you should see about 260 CFM at 175 HP. Sorry for the long explanation, but I figured it might be helpful. Craig. |

Check out my pics in the garage. I kept the maf around 2'' but unlike the stock maf its unrestricted. The air doesnt run into a wall and funnel through like the stock meter.
