2.3t questions

Well my dad has a 88 TC 2.3t and since he's not letting me have it and is going to restore the car himself for his use, im looking to get a 4banger fox for my own 2.3t project...

The question that I have is other than the forged crank, rods and dished pistons and mech distributor of the 2.3t block is there anything different about the 8plug 2.3 in the 93 fox or 2.5 in a 98 ranger? also will heads interchange? and could I use the engine accessories with the proper brakets on the 93 2.3 or 98 2.5? I ask cause I would like to ditch the mech distributior for a stand alone electronic ignition system.

the heads will not interchange, the heads are different for each year and for the non-turbo/turbo versions

i believe the 2.3T block is stronger than the 2.3 block

i dunno much about the 8-plug, as i dont have one

you'll have to wait for turbo to come in

but ur best bet, unless you want to buy forged internals, is to swap in a factory 2.3T

I would like to use the factory 2.3t block as I can get them pretty cheap at my local yard, but I wanted to ditch the mechanical distributor in favor if an MSD electronic ignition system, thats why I wanted to know if I could just simply use a 93 or 98 2.3/2.5 block and instal forged internals.

The distributor would be much easier to work with then the horrible design of the 8 plug head

Ive been been fascinated with the 2.3t since my dad brought the TC home from the dealer back in 91, its just somethin about them lol so im lookin to join the 2.3t fam as well, I think it would be pretty cool to have a good mpg daily driver / sleeper and still whip ass from light to light

By the way what kinda power yall getting out of those 2.3t's and how much boost? also are you using stock computers or a megasquirt?

Nice numbers!, did you do an 8.8 rear swap or did you stick with the 7.5 rear?

as opposed to how many blades onthe HX?

and this creates less power i assume? does it spool up faster than the HX?

the HX35 has 7 or 8 blades, depending which series HX35 it is

the HY makes as much power as the HX would and spools up sooner then the HX
