New Project

ok well, when I pulled the starter out of my car the other day.
I found out that my car had alot more rust that was hidden rather
well.. So I'm cancelling all that work I wanted to do to it.
I rather just get the car running and have it run till it dies for good.
then just take wat is good from it for replacement parts.

such as the interior which is in amazing shape other then a few lil marks
on the drivers seat and the fact that the rubber let lose on the steering
wheel. and lots of body parts are still good.

ANYWAYS. Found someone here in good ole Manitoba about
hour out of the city who has a yard full of mustangs that he is either
parting out or selling complete. All of them run and drive still.
And my sister is good friends with him so.. I might be upgrading
from my ole Hatchback four banger to a lovely 302 5.0L coupe.
or another 2.3 Coupe. (i consider the body change a upgrade due
to the stiffer body found in the coupes. and i love hte look alot more.)

So heres my plans and I also have a few questions. anyone that can
answer them please do. I know Turbo most likly will.

Engine Mods:
- Stage 2 Cam.
- Aluminum Head.
- Headert either using the Ranger header I have or go out and
spend the money on something better.
- 2.5in exhaust straight through, no cats.
- Muffler undcided at the moment.
- Custom y-pipe setup to give it a dual exhaust look.
- Possibly a Turbo. Now my question. What size is a decent size for a
turbo to push out about250rwhp at least? andd i will be upgrading
all the internals. But running the oil lines for the Turbo. Could I
Just remove the oil Pan and drill a hole in there andrun it like that?
- Transmission if i can get one with a Auto it will be swapped to a stick
but aiming for the standard.
- 3.73 or 4.10 rear end gears.
- Port and Polish head.
- Fuel pump, fuel regulator and injector goin to somethin abit bigger.
- Customer CAI with Custom Intake Manifold and Bigger Throttle
Body
- Ignition
- Undrive Pullies
... thats about all I can think of. Now keep in mind this is what I want to
do. BUT ginving the fact that I have a family to also take care of all this
will not be done all at once.. and any time soon. Some of it.. Maybe
rather quickly.. But for the time being Start slow.

So what you guys think? How much do you think ill be pushing out
with that all done?

there's really no point in getting an aluminum head unless you plan on doing serious racing, and if you do get one, there's really no point in P&Ping it

if you're gonna turbo the n/a engine you might as well swap in a 2.3T.. i kno it sucks when ppl say that, but it really is the easiest/cheapest way to go. the only reason keeping the n/a block to turbo would be to brag about how much you spent on it or to jus feel cool cuz you didnt swap it

if you're gonna do dual exhaust, id keep it 2.25.. dual 2.5 is too big for that little 2.3, unless you're getting a turbo and only if you're getting a turbo (then you'd want a 3" downpipe that leads to the Y)

you dont need a new TB, you can just half-shaft the one you got. and intake manifolds wont do too much.. maybe 3-5hp.. better to jus port it IMO

the ranger header is fine, unless you plan on serious racing

dont forget to do your valvetrain and get a valve job.. and while you're at it (if you keep it n/a) get that head shaved a bit

longrod kits and strokers are good too (turbo or n/a)

you can also get a cam gear to help you adjust your peak hp/tq position

see the thing is all the Turbo coupes that are available or
svo mustangs or anything that had a 2.3T are honestly all junk
motor seized anything good is gone. Ive called literally all the big name wreckers here and also checked around maybe all but 5 of the smaller ones and had my soon to be brother in law. He knows alot of guys and palces that had them and nothing available so..

jus wait then

keep looking, you'll find one

hell, i've seen turbocoupes sell on ebay for like 1500

you can buy it and take the engine out and everything else you need

then sell it to someone who needs a body

you're gonna end up spending that much on internals/computers/turbo/intercooler anyways

Aluminum head is nice to have but expensive, there ported .040" over the stock cast ones, but you can grid the stock ones that much

go with 3.73's

2.25" exhaust into some good mufflers that create back pressure (If your staying N/A)

SN95 TB's will fit on the 2.3 Intakes and are bigger then the stock TB's

and if you do go turbo and depending which one you go with, (Example)HX35, you could easily be in the 400+ area

would it be doable to just place hols in the oil
pan for the oil supply.

yea the V6 TB will fit.. but it's big, definitely not good for a stock engine

if you cant decide what gears you want: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi

ok.. well that makes no sense.. whats the "oil feed" for?
to supply the turbo with Oil correct? and possibly another
for the return? .. Just makes more sense to go straight from the
pan you know.. I dunno..
