I may be wrong but technically removing the knock sensor would do nothing except for keeping the ECU/ECM from recognizing a knock condition... which would keep your ignition timing from advancing or retarding? so wouldn't this let your engine have detonation if it is on a steep hill? I guess the only benefit really of disconnecting it would be you could advance your timing to your liking and keep it there... details please

you're right dane, it prevents your computer from setting your timing back unnecessarily

so when you're driving down the street and you hammer the gas and it's even slower than normal, its time to set your timing and take that thing off

only reason i'm asking is because i was checking into it on my 4.3 vortec blazer when i had it... and i was told unhooking it would actually put my truck into a limp mode... but that's gm to ford so ... thanks for the info john

hell, i didn't even know chevys had limp mode, i thought they jus shut down if something happened

isn't your name john? haha i could be wrong... coulda swore it was in your siggy... yea chevy's have a nasty ass limp mode... my s10 used to stay in 2nd gear... and only tach 4k.... bad VSS wiring and bum knock sensor it had 2 of them tho...

but yea, my pops said chevys usually jus shut down when somethin goes wrong, whereas a 2.3 cud get home on 3 cylinders

hell ya true story, in the summer i drove 5 hours from oklahoma to texas on three cylinders because i had bad gas and it clogged one injectors lol that chit sucked...plus...i had to change it twice cuz i got a defective part...grrrr...o well it was fun
