stroking the 2.3

k so i kno the components to stroking the 2.3

i got a few questions about gathering the components

you need small bearings since pre-91 blocks use large bearings and the 2.5s use small, can you just take them out of the 2.5 when you pick it apart?

other than the crank being different, are the pistons a different size? i kno the rods are the same length.. i dont plan on using the stock pistons anyways so i guess that question doesn't really matter.

do you need a bigger exhaust manifold or injectors? do you need a tune for the computer?

Everything between the 2.3 and the 2.5's are the same except the crank and the thrust bearing

stock manifold will work, no computer tuning involved

A thrust bearing is the bearing in the middle of the crank case that is bigger then the rest of the bearings, its designed to keep the crank from walking and keeps its movement straight

im pretty sure the pistons are the same but dont take my word just yet, lemme find out

and your better off just buying new bearings

thats like re using a used condom if you use the old bearings

so how much horsepower you think i'd have with this set-up?

bored and stroked to 2.5 w/ 5.7 chevy rods and KB pistons (balanced assembly at the shop)
ported head, stage 1 cam from racer walsh, swirl polished valves, shaved head .050 - .070

ranger header, 2.5" exhaust pipe, high-flow cat, flowmaster 40 (yes turbo)

these are what i was planning on doing before next summer, so how much you think i'd be putting to the wheels?

[and if i make enough, i would add pullies, stage 2 cam, and a 75-100 shot of nitrous]

so what you think with those first mods i listed?

just because its a 75 shot doesnt mean your gonna get 75hp from it

could be as high as a 55hp gain if that

so say i did the 2.3T swap, would it be a good idea to use the crank from the 2.5 and get some forged long rods/shorter pistons?

i want to stroke something, and i'm thinkin about getting a 2.3T and building it up on the side while i get the body work on my car done...

im gonna be doing the badass stuff, like boring and stroking and porting and all that so i'm gonna be asking a lot of questions (jus like the ol' days!)
