Turbo Swap


when swapping a 88 turbo coupe motor to a 90 stang, do i need to swap computers to adapt the turbo, whats it all involved wiring wise, what do i need to add to the stock stang 4cyl wiring harness to run the turbo coupe motor.

yes you would need the eec for it to run properly

Yes you do have to use the computer from the turbo. Also use the down spout for the exhaust, or custom make one. Make sure you save the tranny mounts and the engine mounts from the turbo coupe as well, they are fluid filled and hard as hell to find. Other then that most of the swap is pretty simple. I did this swap on a 86 capri, without fuel injection, so I had alot of wiring to do.
A hint,,,buy an air fuel ratio gauge, and an adjustable fuel presure regulator, and use an air bypass valve from a turbo SAAB, they fit right in.
Also for a couple extra ponies for cheap, use a head off of a older 2.3 ranger, they had roller cams in them.
