Reving Up

I recently aqquired a 1993 Lx hatch back with a 4 cylinder and a five speed. I have headers and a Y pipe. But when the car revs up it sounds like alot of RPM's but the tacometer only reads 3,000

93 has the dual plug DIS system. If your tach is only reading half what it should the DIS module may be going or gone, does it run alright under load and does your "check engine light" come on ? if so it is your module for sure. ( it is the box mounted toward the front of the intake manifold).
