a timing gun would be better than the human eye.

will my haines manual tell what wire to put it on? its got 8 wires on a 4 cylinder.... plz have patients with me. ive only had my stang for about 3 months. i have a bunch of hondas, tho. id eventually like to svo my stang, so i could have the best of both worlds.

You have the DIZZY system which means you can not adjust the timing unless you move the crank sensor which is not worth it.
And if your pinging on a complete stock 2.3L you problably have long plugs meaning the pistons problably hit the bottom of the plugs, 93 also makes run like shit, if you go with 87 it will burn more effieciently and create more power in that 2.3 Get a set of STOCK Motorcraft plugs for it, there porven the best plugs for the 2.3's

thanks, i'll try the motorcraft plugs. someone told me that my timing belt could be off by a tooth. if it was hitting the plugs i think it would make noise all the time, right? its the DIS system with 8 plugs.
