How to install fuel pressure and boost gauge??

Does anyone know where I connect the line for my fuel pressure gauge and where to install the one for my boost gauge? This is going on a 1986 svo engine.

Boost gauge connects to the vacuum tee on the driver side of the engine compartment. The fuel pressure gauge only place I know of to connect in at it the fuel rail shraeder (SP?) valve that sits on the back side of the fuel rails.

Look at the lower intake plenum. Once you locate that, on top of it there will be 2 copper looking pipes with the 4 injectors going into the plenum right next to the head of the motor. Near cylinder 3 and 4 on the intake side there will be a little nozzle that will look kinda like an tire valve stem. Thats the fuel shraeder valve. If that isn't specific enough for you i'll go take a picture tomorrow and upload it.

Better yet, heres a layout from the drivers side of the motor. If this doesn't show you the round abouts i'll get a spot on picture with the upper intake plenum removed. Enjoy

Close, to the left of that is a little like valve stem. with a pin in the center of it. May have a black plastic cap. If you pop the black cap if it there off you'll see what looks like a tire valve stem. Threaded with a pin in the center to relieve pressure ( btw don't push this down when the lines are pressurized.) I'll get a better picture for you tomorrow after work. I'm tired just spent 16 hours on my buddies 02 v6 mustang i'm tired pass out time.

Thanks now I now what you are talking about. But how do I connect it? Do I use a hose or something? Sorry that I might seem dumb but this is a first 4 me.

a fuel pressure gauge should have a specific nut to lock onto the shraeder valve. If it doesn't have it then I wouldn't do it. Not highly recommended to make your own connections for something on the fuel system. Got a link for the gauge your trying to hook up?

Ill show you the gauges I bought. They are just the gauges themselves. Someone told me that i might need sending units? The only one that i didnt put in the picture is the fuel pressure 1 cuz i couldnt find it .

Ok here some better pictures for you. This is the shraeder valve that the fuel pressure gauge hooks to.

This is the actual connector I have on my car installed and working.

and this is the gauge i'm using to set my base fuel pressure.

Now if your wanting to monitor if the motor is going lean, rich, or running optimal then you better invest in a wideband o2 sensor with a good af/f r ratio gauge. Seeing fuel pressure won't do much for you and as I said is pretty dangerous if the line leaks in the car. An a/f ratio gauge is safed and runs off an electronic reading.

As for sending units yes is possible. I had a specific sending unit I have to use for my oil pressure gauge and my water temp gauge. The boost gauge will just use a clear vacuum line that you connect directly to the vacuum T to see your vacuum and psi under boost.

Connector on the fuel rail.

Gauge to set base fuel pressure

As I stated before if your doing a fuel pressure gauge for tuning it would be best to mount it externally in case something starts leaking or do what i'm doing and put one inside the engine compartment. If it to monitor your fuel pressure while driving a better option is air fuel ratio gauge. Preferably a wideband gauge with a wideband o2 sensor. Will give you just as accurate of a reading, but is much safer. Only difference is you don't see the fuel pressure, you will see if the air fuel mixture is to lean, not enough fuel or too rich to much fuel or optimal just the right amount. I still highly recommend you don't install a fuel pressure gauge.

No problem bud. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I'm still learning on the SVO motors myself, but have learned alot already.

Don't believe so. Basically you have to give it a 12v source, 12v ref key/lights on depending on how you want it, a ground, and then 1 wire spliced into the coil to read rpms.
