why didn't my 07 burn the tires up?

WTF ???

Maybe it is me. I have been around mustangs for many years 85, 92, 93 models when I was younger and any of them SMOAKEDDDD the tires like I was on an oil slick.

OK, here is my deal for this post. Tonight I was with the old lady and said lets see how this machine burns the tires.
I turned off the traction control and reved her to about 4000 rpm and droped the hammer and she barly spun but she did move and spun second a good bit. BUT 1st should have been LIT UP. Total Stock 07 GT 5 SPEED 3.55 gears. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? OR WHAT's THE DEAL. I am a little dissapointed. I expected more. She should have blown the tires loose.

i know these new mustangs are supose to handle a little better but i'm having the same concerns w/my 07 gt 5 speed w/410's. i'm finding it a little diffilcult to spin them in first. my 98 gt i had in the high 13's went side ways in 1st, 2nd, and a little in 3rd. my 07 has 235's

SO WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?
I agree with you the older ones smoaked the tires in first by flooring it.

3.55 gears with a 5 speed and a 4000 launch (good tires or not) should tear loose and the car should go some what sideways.

I am not sold nthing is wrong or the car is way out of timing or something.

I have an automatic and although easier it did take me some time before I was able to smoke the tires. You can’t just drop the hammer it wont work with these Pirelli tires. They will spin all right but you will be moving. If you were to get a trans lock you would have no problem. You could try to use the e brake for some resistance, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that to often. This is a video of me smoking the tires. You don’t have to watch the whole video its only in the beginning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UphX4JOErmU

You might have the dealer check your traction control something might not be disengaging properly. I bought one with a sc but did test drive a regular 5 speed GT before I bought and it smoked em good with brand new tires.

thats almost what it seems like. I'd hate for them to start messing with the computer, i herd a couple of horor stories with the codes getten all messed up between the predator and stock and the car does'nt start. first i'll try harder, catch the streets while there wet.

Brake stand it. It's simple as that get on the clutch drob the hammer get back on the brakes keep it going until you get the certain amount of smoke you need.

In september I picked up a 2007 GT 5 speed, orderd a roush S/C at the same time. Had to wait 2 weeks for S/C to arrive. So I got to drive it stock for two weeks, On the way home i pulled over with my son in the car to do a burn out like the one on the TV commercials, I was not impressed but forgot to turn off T/C, tryed it agian it did a lot better popped off on limiter and little curp in second. Now with the S/C the limiter is really a pain pops off to early. I have ridden 7 sec drag bikes so i know what fast is, And I have never owned a mustang before, so all I can say is Right On they make fast cars agian.

i'm having no problems even with the new bfg's and they are 285's on the back. these tires stick like glue around the corners though. can't wait to get the rest of the suspension on when i get back to texas

It sounds like you have a problem with the traction lock not disengaging or something like that.
I have an 06 and on dry pavement I smoke them all the way through first, half way through second and get a good 3rd gear bark.
That was with the stock tires and the new Nitto's I put on.
I have still not found that sweet RPM spot to launch from and not break them loose.
