I reckon the moral of this is that if someone really wanted to get into your car, they could/would.

what ford should have done is just put em in the coupes. that would provide some secure storage for the verts.

If you want a trunk button, put one in your self. It's really simple and ponly costs about $2.

Here are a set of instructions I wrote up:

damn that seems really easy. could you just cut the white wire and put the wire from the switch and one end of the wite wire into a crimp connector? would that mess it up? i think it would be really easy. it would probably only take like half an hour. thanks odiaz. this is exactly what i was looking for when i posted this.

personally, I don't like cutting wires if I can avoid it but as long as you tap into the wire you should be OK. The hardest part of this job is finding the wire. When I did mnine I used the published wiring diagram and they mislabeled the trunk release wire. It took me about an hour to find it. Finally I pulled the cover on the trunk lock to find th wire.

The job should take about a half hour or so. I chose the glove compartment box because I can lock it if I need to and the trunk will be secure. This mod ha saved me a few times. One time I was at a car show and dropped my keys n the trunk as I was packing up. Without the button I would have had to call roadside assitance and wait for them.

When you drill the hole in the glove compartment box, feel around the edge. There is a metal braket with a hole where the switch should go. Drill the hole to line up with this opening and insert the switch in there. One lead goes to ground and the other goes to the white wire with the pink stripe.

If you don't want to cut the wire or splice into it, you can use a vampire tap connector.
