Is it even worth it...?

ok so i posted a little while ago about mac LT's and converting the prochamber to a catted. it seems like a lot of extra work for something that may just blow up in my face and the price is starting to get up there making it not seem as worth it anymore for the macs. so my question is, should i just fork over the couple extra bucks and shoot for something 'better' like a kooks system? i really want to stay with an H-pipe that's why i'm thinking kooks i can get the LT's with catted shorty H-pipe. I have never heard an x-pipe in person, is there a big difference in sound? i'll be putting frpp stingers on with it. could i shoot for something slightly cheaper like a dynatech or SLP system with catted X or will i probably not be happy with the sound? thanks
